Though guests will find much to occupy them within the hotel during their stay, Munich has much to offer. Renowned for its architecture, modern shopping facilities and, of course, brewing beer, there’s plenty to see and do in and around the city centre.

Deutsches Museum - 5 minutes by taxi/0.5 Miles or 1 Km Founded in 1903 by Oskar von Miller, an eminent German engineer, this is the oldest and largest museum dedicated to technology and engineering in the world. It houses a library and archive detailing the history of German engineering from the early 20th century.
Schloss Neuschwanstein - 2 hours by taxi/68 Miles or 110 Km Built at enormous expense by Ludwig II – Bavaria’s former King – between 1868 and 1892, it is one of the most renowned castles in the region. Perched amongst the forest and mountain scenery of the Alps, it was the inspiration for Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
Schloss Linderhof - 1 hour by taxi/57 Miles or 91 Km An extravagantly decorated castle, also constructed for Ludwig II, the elaborate interior is based on the opulence of the French Baroque architecture and it was used as a retreat by the King. Constructed between 1869 and 1878 on a steep hillside.
Chiemsee - 1.5 hours by taxi/59 Miles or 95 Km Bavaria’s largest freshwater lake covers an area of 80 square km (30 square miles) is often referred to as the ‘Bavarian Sea’ and is notable for two famous islands, Herrenchiemsee and Frauenchiemsee. The former is home to an incomplete castle, which was intended to be a replica of the Palace of Versailles.
Salzburg - 2 hours by car/90 Miles or 145 Km Most famous as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the city is a cultural haven for music lovers, thanks largely to the Salzburg Festival which was founded in the early part of the 20th century. Characterised by cobbled streets and mountains the city was also the set for the film, The Sound of Music.

Old Town of Munich - 5 minutes by foot The Old Town is home to a number of attractions including the Marienplatz (Town Square), the Viktualienmarkt (Food Market) and the Frauenkirche (Church). The main square in Munich is the centre of the town for inhabitants and visitors alike.
Wittelsbach Residenz – 10 minutes by foot/0.4 Miles or 0.7 Km Home to the ruling Wittelsbach dynasty until 1918, the building itself dates back to 1385. Inside the impressive medieval building is the Cuvilliers Theatre, an intimate rococo opera house as well as exhibitions dedicated to displaying the region’s royal trea
Old, New and Modern Pinakothek - 7 minutes by taxi/1.2 Miles or 2 Km These are two of Munich’s most famous art galleries: Alte Pinakothek is home to a collection of art from the 14th - 18th centuries; Neue Pinakothek has displays of European painting from the 19th century, while Pinakothek der Modern is devoted to contemporary art.
Schloss Nymphenburg - 15 minutes by taxi/6 Miles or 10 Km It was constructed over many years from 1664 and its Stone Hall is of particular note, as is the famous Schönheitengalerie (Gallery of the Beauties) which contains portraits of 36 local women. Also on the grounds, modern Europe’s first swimming pool.
Maximilianstrasse – 2 minutes by foot/0.1 Miles or 0.2 Km This street is home to many of the world’s most exclusive fashion brands, hotels and jewellers. The buildings are historically and architecturally important; a mix of Renaissance and Gothic styles.
Theatinerstrasse - 10 Minutes walk The discerning shopper will enjoy a visit to Theatiner Strasse. As well as being home to the spectacular 17th century church, the Theathiner Kirche (St Cajetan Church), the street has many smaller, exclusive boutiques and global brands.
Fünf Hoefe - 10 Minutes by taxi The ‘Five Courts’ were designed by Swiss architects, Herzog&deMeuron and offer high-quality shopping in the heart of Munich. Filled with a mix of designer shops, book stores, galleries and trendy restaurants, including Vapiano (Italian cuisine) and Kaimug (Thai cuisine).
Maffeistrasse and Schaeffler – 10 minutes by foot/0.4 Miles or 0.7 Km Hof Maffeistrasse and Schaeffler Hof offer a range of stores stocking well-known brands as well as traditional gifts such as Lederhosen and Dirndl, beer mugs, wood carvings and speciality foods such as Stollen and marzipan.
Kaufingerstrasse - 15 Minutes/3 Miles or 4.8 Km One of the most renowned shopping streets in Munich is the Kaufingerstrasse, which leads up from the Marienplatz up to the Karlsplatz/Stachus. This street is home to many local shops, as well as the department stores and is completely pedestrianised.

Duernbraeu - 2 minutes by foot/0.1 Miles or 0.2 Km Located in the centre of Munich, this Bavarian tavern is favoured by locals and it’s easy to see why. The dishes are traditional Bavarian fare, including freshly roasted pork served with potato dumplings and a cabbage salad and the atmosphere is buoyant and uplifting.
Buffet Kull - 20 Minutes by taxi A trendy but welcoming destination for those guests with a love of Mediterranean food, this is a constant favourite among Munich’s residents. The fish and salads are excellent and the chef creates mouth-watering seasonal fare.
